credit card insureance

hi i bought a portable tv and didnt take out insureance.i dropped the controll on the tv and the screen cracked very easily. i did however buy the tv on my credit card am i right in thinking i can claim through my card thanks.

The claim through the credit card under s.75 of the Credit Consumer Act only makes the credit card company jointly liable with the seller if there is a breach of the Sale of Goods Act, Distance Selling Regulations, if the seller goes bust before you get your goods....
It does not include damage you cause after receiving the goods.
However, SOME credit card companies voluntarily insure goods for a limited period after purchase. You will have to read the terms of conditions of your insurance card.
There is no guarantee that such insurance covers accidental damage.
Have you got the usual House Contents Insurance? If so, does it include accidental damage? You may be able to claim on that.

If you believe there is a fault with the television, contact Curry's and tell them there is an 'inherent fault' with the television and you want a refund under the Sale of Goods Act.
If the television is under 6 months old, they will have to prove their is not an inherent fault, if it is over that you will.
