I would recommend you go to college. There are DVD's and videos out there but hese should really be used as an extra, as well as learning at college.

It's not easy to learn from books and DVD's alone as apart from anything else, signs vary from region to region (a bit like accents).

I agree with cheekychops, there are regional variations in the different signs used. I did a Stage 1 CACDP sign language course at a local college, we were given an opportunity to buy a video with different stories on to help our understanding through the college. Also at the college I studied at, some of the tutors were deaf so you really had to pay attention and learn otherwise it was quite difficult in class, but it really helped, unfortunately, I don't get many opportunities to practise mine and the courses aren't exactly cheap

It really is best to learn this at college. You cant learn from books and videos alone unfortunately. I have my BSL stage 1 and went on to stage 2 but it hard going. Two books that I found/find helpful are -Signs make sense by Cath Smith ISBN 0-285-65083-1Sign in Sight - a step into the deaf world by Cath Smith ISBN 0-285-65100-5 - both are about 10.Good luck and Im sure you will do well.
