Post office is good. They do not charge commission and buy back the same
Bets place cheque cashing shops after that its a tossup between sainsburys , tescos and m&s
i'd say post office, they have special deals on euros at moment, consider taking a travel money card too!!!
The Post Office have certainly done a good job on convincing people that they charge NO COMMISSION and (unsaid) are therefore cheapest.

Well they may charge no commission but their exchange rates are average at best - and virtually nowhere else charges commission either.

Cheque shops, M&S and Thos Cook are the likeliest best sources - or an ATM in resort come to that.
went to my sister apartment near La Manga last september, exchange rate was around 1.28 euro to the pound, best I could get here was 1.18 or 1.19 euro to the pound. But when I got there, just use your normal bank card in the ATM, I got the real rate, 1.28, and my bank (alliance & leicester) charged me 2.50 (about 3.20 euro)for a foreign transaction, so bear in mind that I'm getting 10 cents to the pound more, if you withdraw more than 32 pounds worth, or about 40 euro, you are getting a much better deal. Just get enough here for your arrival in spain, and use the cash machines when you are there. As soon as you put your card in the machine, it will recognise it as a foreign card and come up with a list of languages, french, German, Italian and english, select the appropriate one and all the instructions then come up in your language. When it asks which account you are withdrawing from, select 'credit card', as the machine recognises all foreign cards as credit cards. It works fine in Cajamurcia and Santander machines.
if there is time open a nationwide account and use their card at an ATM abroad. They do not charge you for this service. Failing this, as previous poster said, use your card at an ATM abroad. Just remember that they will charge you per transaction so don't get lots of small amounts but one or two larger amounts
I have always found that you get the best exchange rate with you ATM card. Your bank will charge you a small fee for the transaction, however, the exchange rate is always the best at the time you take the money out. This allows you to get out what you need for 1 or 2 days and not have to carry large amounts of money with you during the day or keep large amounts hidden in you luggage if you are at one place for several days.
