ok, a day off work and totally no voice! I sound like gollum when I strain to talk! There were a few on here this weekend complaining of having a cold , they've passed it on to me, some people are so thoughtless ; (

Hi Dot, hope you get your voice back soon!!

Have a gargle with some honey and lemon to soothe your throat and vocal chords.
dont whisper, apparently that just strains you vocal chords even more and makes it worse
oh, and get well soon :o)

You need some lubricant to ease your vocal chords. I can think of one;-)

the annoying thing is the anti-biotics won't work if it is a viral infection and i have another 2 days left to go with them! At least the kidney infection has cleared up.
I think working with the public all the time is the main cause, and also alot of staff seem to go into work with bad colds and coughs and general unwellishness, and the air circulation system at work carries all the bugs i reckon
Now it's becoming clear. I wondered why knobby kept referring to anti-biotic's ......

yes ummm he was being sarcastic. I have had to have a second course because the 3 day course last week didn;t work. Knobby was implying I was intoxicated a few days ago, I explained i was not because of the medication. (Infact I very rarely drink these days as I have to drive most days early morning)
Aww, dot ... you poor thing.

As carrust says ... you need a lubricant for your throat.

What carrust had in mind was probably a hot toddy of brandy, honey, lemon and boiling water ... and I'd agree with that.
Hi Dot, sorry ur feeling poorly X

I had glandular fever about 9 years ago, along with secondary tonsilitis and ulcerated tonsils (I thought I was dying). I lost my voice completely for about a week (my family said it was the most bliss they'd ever had).
The GF lead to me having jaundice and an enlarged spleen!

If you have had one infection after another, could your immune system be quite low at the moment?
Tesco do great cheapo throat linctus @ 50p.....just keep swigging till the throat eases - 24/7.
I like Buttercup Syrup.

It's soothing.
Yeah its called TCP Tom Cat Piddle!{:) hi JJ
I find Nurofen (ibuprofen) helps. It's analgesic and anti inflammatory and can be taken in conjunction with paracetamol (but not with aspirin).
Hi, Stompe.

I got my username back.
