last January i started a new job. Unfortunatley for me it didn't go to well and i had a few occasions of sickness. The company policy is three times in a year get you a warining, Because i couldn't shift the ilness i was off on more occasions and was eventually issued a writen warining. last december i lost a member of my family and was given compationate leave and they were understanding. Now i have had an even more unfortunate turn in events and have been told i will lose another member of my family. Now as well as all the stress i am worried of any repurcussions this may cause at work as agin i may have to take compasionate leave. Does anybody no if they could sack me for this or issue a final warning? i've checked my contract and this isn't advised.

In the current climate, with so many people losing their jobs, I would offer to use annual holiday the next time you need to be away from work for personal reasons.
I agree with aniani.
Sounds like a caring firm though. Many would have got rid of you within the first 12 months. You now have more than 12 months and therefore more rights.
I agree with both answers so far.
Some firms would only grant compassionate leave for the death of your partner/parent/child and NO OTHER member of your family (I know, I used to work for such a firm).
Your best bet is, as aniani suggests, to OFFER to use annual leave for your absence, showing that you are aware that you have already had extra leave, and do not want to push things too far. If you are lucky, your employer may grant extra compassionate leave.
