knitted toy teddy bear/rabbit
5 Answers
Could someone please let me have some simple instructions for knitting a small (4"-6") teddy/bunny. I can't find a single pattern and the toy compilation magazines tend to have larger toys - apart from being rather expensive when all I want to knit is one small toy. Any tips would be appreciated.

Many thanks just what I wanted.
Sign of the times is that there is just one shop left in my area selling wool & patterns and the available toy patterns came in expensive magazines. I only want to make the bear as an add-on to out of the wool leftover from an outfit already made.
Hope yours was an excellent Christmas, mine certainly was.

I know it's a bit late, but this is a good easy pattern.

NOTE: Size of needles and yarn determine the size of the bear. Use size needle and
yarn that will produce close and tight stitch needed for stuffing with poly fill. You
can sew two pieces of yarn together if the yarn is thin. Example : Size 7 needles
with sports yarn works fine.
BASIC PATTERN:
Stitch: Stockinette (Knit Row ~ Pearl Row)
~ Cast on 8 stitches and work 16 rowsbreak off yarn.
~ Cast on 8 stitches and work 16 rows to form other leg.
~ Knit across both legs (16 sts) and complete 13 rows.
~ Cast on 9 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
~ Work 8 rows.
~ Cast off 8 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
~ Now work 38 rows on these 16 sts
~ Cast on 8 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
~ Work 8 rows.
~ Cast off 8 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows.
~ Work 12 rows.
~ Using only first 8 stitches, work 16 rowsthen cast off.
~ Return to remaining 8 stitches and work 16 rowsthe cast off.
