Jewellers have given my ring away?
44 Answers
I took a Victorian 22ct diamond ring to the jewellers for repair after I trapped my hand & the ring was bent. They gave me a detailed receipt & said to collect it in a weeks time. That was 2 weeks ago. I went in this morning and they said I collected the ring last week! I obviously still have the receipt. What is my next course of action?
Thanks in advance.

Its not the same as the real thing obviously, but have one that looks like it, can be nicer then cold cash, or a different ring entirely.
And if you cant find a jeweller who will do that, then let me know cos my dad does that kind of thing!

You may have to badger the police to take action on this, but don't give up - it is obtaining goods by deception.
If it comes to it, the woman in the jewellers who gave them the ring might have to attend an identity parade if the police find the likely culprit.
Meanwhile, I would not just let the jewellers be. They have been negligent & there is no reason why you should not pursue a claim against them.

I'm absolutely disgusted that someone would attend that shop purporting to be you and steal your ring. My ex bought me a ring when I was 19 and though we have split up, I wouldn't part with it for anything in the world.
I hope you get your ring back and they prosecute the low-life scumbag who claimed it.
