Tropical Fish-Kribensis

Ihave a female kribensis and she seems to be gasping for breath. she is not at the surface of the tank,she just stays in a live plant. Her colour is fine, and ihave tested the water and everything is spot on. She looks as though she is breathing very heavy. Has anyone got any suggestions. Thanks

If her colour is fine it makes me wonder if you also have a male in the same tank? If you have, maybe they are breeding. The babies can hide in the mother's mouth when very young and that certainly makes it look like she is gasping.

I agree with wildwood - I used to keep cichlids (have I spelt that correctly?) and they're very good parents. I remember when K. Jnr was small and he reported "ants in the fishtank" - they were baby kribensis!! I miss my fish, but I don't have enough space for them any more. K

We had fish for years then house moves forced us not to have an aquarium but eventually i said "We could put one there" and we did!!

our Kribensis has just died but he was an aggressive bully and saw off almost everything, just got a female fighter and one dalmation mollie, if i'd known how bad that one would be i would never have got him. He hid in the barrel on the bottom most of the time and would shoot out and attack the others if they came near.
