Has anyone any songs that they used to really dislike, but when they heard it in a different context; say used as a film soundtrack or for a tv ad- they have changed their mind about it & come to like it?

For instance - I never used to like Elton John's Crocodile Rock. Until it was used in a wedding scene in the Film 'Four Weddings & a Funeral'. Ever since then I've really liked the song. Weird? Strange? Any other examples?

one of my favourite songs is 'Islands In the Stream' by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton, or even the BeeGees, who of course wrote it, but just lately, well. the reverse has happened, I am now not sure lol

i agree zac with somewhere over the rainbow. Never liked the judy garland version - but Eva Cassidy & particularly Israel Kawiwo'ole's versions are brill.

John Martyn done a great version as well.

I can't say the oldie song 'Imposible Dream' did impossibly wonderful things for me - I didn;t hate it, but do remember my mum singing it, so it's 60's or 70's stuff. However, it really stirs me in the new Honda advert & I sing alonga Max at the top of my voice every time it comes on.
I thought the same about "fields of gold" once I heard eva cassidy's version
