i broke down in my car on a dual carriage way as my battery was dead on my mobile i went to the nearest garage to phone for help it took me half an hour to get their and back . when i got back the police were their and gave me a ticket for 60 pound and 3 points they said my car was left in a dangerous place i said i had broke down . they said because i didnt ring 999 and inform them then it was an offence is that correct

I don't know. I'm just disgusted by the police these days. It's like they contrive to make life difficult for you. And if you were to ring 999 they'd probably charge you for calling about a non emergency. They are pathetic.

No - the police are not right. Keep the evidence of the breakdown (garage repair cost receipt etc) 'cause you will need these for presentation in Court, if the law persist in prosecution.
