I swear I had a ghost living at my old house.. It was built on the site of an old barn (and apparently a stable hand died there) and things would just vanish (keys..etc) but one night I got up at 3 to use the loo and the ivy plant that had been on the windowsill was smashed in the middle of the bathroom (bearing in mind the window was a sealed portholey one) so I shouted out 'I don't mind you being here, but this is a bloody cream carpet'... nothing happend after that.. so be firm but fair and they won't hurt you!!
That's quite interesting hippy. When my Granddad died, he was making his presence felt for a few days afterwards. In life, he was a cantankerous old sod. My Aunt threatened to get the bell book and candle out to him. Immediately, the smell of flowers filled the house and there was no longer a 'presence' felt by anyone.
Hey ianfran!
My Dad had a similar experience other than the one I mentioned on your thread the other day. When he was at his sister's house one night, he saw a Victorian couple walking down the road very late at night. Our English Springer stood growling at them with all the hairs on his back standing on end. They simply just vanished into thin air. Despite my father's scepticism, he was unable to explain that one away.

I had a very weird experience (about 3 months before my dad died). I woke and sat bolt upright, previoiusly being in a deep sleep and said....
..see that man at the bottom of the bed....tell him to go away...
i can remember seeing an old man all dressed in black with a big hat on....and once i said the words, he disappeared.
my words were verified by my friend who was staying over (sleeping beside me). She never saw any man but it scared the c r a p outta her....
i just dont know if it was a ghost or a premonition that my dad was going to die...but it was a bit scary!!!

When I was living alone I went to a clairvoyant's evening. Load of old tosh I thought. Anyway, she gave me a reading and informed me that I had the ghost of a 9 year old boy living in my house - she told me loads of stuff that added up, but I was still quite sceptical - despite all the weird stuff that had happened there.
Anyway, returning home to an empty house, i was a little nervous, so I decided to have it "out" with the "ghost" who from then on I named "Billy". So I sat in the middle of my dark living room and told him he was welcome to stay, but he wasn't to mess with my stuff or scare the cat and as long as he behaved himself and obeyed the "house rules" I wouldn't get the priest in.
Felt a bit of a pr@t but on a "hedging my bets" basis, it made me feel better. Funnily enough from then on it, I used to chat to him!!!!!

hi mercy - sorry for delay in reply to your 9.32pm post - that is really spooky - just goes to show there is something out there.
i would really love to experience seeing a ghost now though for the chance of asking why it is here and what it wants?
mrs ian and i feel some of the children's grandparents are looking over them keeping them safe and watching them.it's weird but when you look back at events like curtains moving when ther's no draft, household items eg keys etc moving and being found in another place you coul'dnt have out them!, creaks and noises in the house and we have a big house! and children waking up in the middle of the night and coming in with us saying they heard noises ( maybe me or mrs ian snoring, who knows!!) - you can call me a careful and hopeful sceptic! one day maybe, one day!! night mercy - hitting the duvet soon if don't speak you again tonight - 20 more mins - goodnight, hunni and to all of you, and sleep tight!! x
