Hi all i know this sort of question has been asked many times before but cant find anything recent. I have a caution for common assult from 5 years ago .I am planning on going to usa in the next couple of years has anyone traveled recently since the introduction of the ESTA and biometrics passport and had any problems getting in or even leaving the uk will they check here and there.
Is there anything printed on it to say you have a criminal record? No. Then there's nothing on the chip that says so either. Was there anything on your passport application form about a criminal record? No. There won't be on the passport then.
Common assault is not normally a crime involving moral turpitude so you shouldn't have any worries anyway.
Do the ESTA first, they don't have access to general criminal records so If you get permission to travel then fine - but be aware that there is no such thing as a "spent" conviction" in US law, once a criminal - always a criminal!!!
