should i of seen the will

my father died last may but eight month before he died he knew had had cancer and told me he had seen a solicitor and everything was sorted.
i have never seen a will but his partner said she was to sort everything out???
this may be true but how can i find out more please the will that i have never seen!!

Contact Probate office at area where your father died; give place & date of death and for fee �5 they will search & post you copy of Will.

Probate Office may be able to help in maybe a couple of months once probate has been granted but in the meantime surely Probate Office won't have a copy of the will or know where to get one- they wait for someone to claim probate and provide the will don't they?.
