It is very expensive to insure young new drivers. Try the comparison sites and other insurance companies for cheaper deals.
it would probably be cheaper to buy him an old banger and insure it, in his name so that he hopefully builds a no claims bonus, look for something in a low insurance group.
it depends what sort of car you have too.
Hes better building up his own no claims on a small car as already said.
my son is 17 and the insurance cost more than the car is worth ..mad !!
My grandsons 21 with 3 years NCB. For him to drive my car (13 years old,48,000 miles worth 250 (Ford Mondeo) the quote was an extra 1,350! He taxed and insured his own car (banger Polo) for 835!!! Totally MAD...
Young drivers are high-risk. Best he drives a 'banger' till he has earned NCB for 3y when his insurance will be reasonable.
