I suffer with arthritis in nearly all of my joints. I have four operaitons already, three in one foot and one in the other, I also have had three operations on my back due to disc propblems the last one being a fusion of the lower verterbrae, the operations have helped but not cured it and I now have it bad in my knee and hip, is advisiable to push yourself by walking more than normal (which is pootering arounf the house doing chores and shopping) or will this exacerbate the problem. I also have moved to |Greece for the summer and Autumn hoping that will ease it. Any suggestions gratefully accepted

jenny ....you don't say which type of arthritis is, although I would guess that it is a typye of rheumatoid arthritis.
Even so there are many types of RA.

Is it by any chance Psoriatic Arthritis?

More information please.

I have friends in Torrevieja in Spain and there is a salt water area there which is a great help to many people with arthritis. You're in beautiful Greece, my favourite country, so the heat should help you. Best wishes

thanks for your answers but do I go past the pain barrier and push myself I took a walk when we arrived her last week and I have been in agony since every movement of my leg is making my hip joint give off a shooting pain. When I do housework and I am stop starting as in shopping I am OK and just about stand that but when I do that little bit extra as in walking hoping to keep the joint supple and maybe help it seems to make matters worse so do I do a little often as now or do I push it. As for my ops on my feet were to cut out the arthritic bit which had come up in a lump and put a steel plate in, I had to have three ops because the screws broke the first time and the second time the positioning of the screw made me feel like I was stepping on a nail each time I put my foot down so that had to come out. The other foot I had an implant put in the joint of my big toe due to arthritis. I have not had a knee or hip op yet but they are on the cards for the future.
Well it sounds as if you have RA with secondary OA.

The information that janbee gives is all that you need.

I have just looked on the Psoriatic site and it looks like every symptom is the same as mine so I think doing what I do now little and often is the answer along with swimming when the weather heats up just a little bit more. thanks for info
I have arthritis and try to get out and about on Saturday to do some photography which means lots of walking without really realising so much and helps to ignore the pain.

I do suffer afterwards though, went to the Lake District on Friday and still in a lot of pain now though it was worth it as I had a fantastic day.

I was recommended a good EPA supplement to help keep the joints hydrated and have found them really great.
Question Author
What type of EPA was it please I will try to see if I can get it iver here. Thanks
