Three female gay icons spring to mind: Debbie Harry, Dusty Springfield and Sandie Shaw.   Camp - Mark Almond, Boy George, Pete Burns, Pet Shop Boys, Holly Johnson, Mark Bolan was camp - but I don't think he was gay.

Judy Garland can't be left out, if musicals can be included in your list, nor can Freddie Mercury. The Village People spring to mind too. More recently, the Scissor Sisters have enjoyed big gay pink sparkly sequinned success, bless 'em!

Allo, it refers to that kind of ooh dahling slightly weak wrist love the pink wallpaper do you like my light blue Pringle sweater touchy feely ooh ooh manner that some gay men and some not gay men have. During my uni days I moved into a flatshare to find out the other 3 guys were gay. Quite an eye opener, trust me. I have a PhD in Camp and an MSc in moisturiser. Kind of sorted out my dress sense though.

Apologies to anyone who now has Jimmy Somerville looping in their head. Now HE was camp.
