What is that song which has in it the line, 'sing, why does my poor heart sing?' I used to hear it in the 50s and 60s. It was more of a crooner song than a pop song

Do you mean Zing, why does my heart go zing? It was most famously sung by Maurice Chevalier..

Zing! Thank you Johnny37, I must have thought he was saying 'sing'! thank you. Do you know the title of the song? Or any of the other lyrics?
Which leads me to ask - so is 'with a song in my heart' a different song o that one? And if so, who sang that?
I think you might mean 'Boom why does my heart go boom' sung by Charles Trenet
With a Song in my Heart was the title song from the film The Jane Forman Story 1952 sung by Doris Day, two completely different songs. You've obviously had one of those nights when you can't sleep and all these things are going round and round in your head driving you mad!

Thanks. Buffer, I will follow this up. I am clearly more mixed up than I thought. Must run - time to boom and zing.
