Star Ratings

I've noticed that some people get star ratings next to their answers (I had 2 stars next to an answer) how does this happen?

You, as the question master, get the chance to star rate the answers to your question.  And for that - you can give me 3 stars - if you like! :-)  It'll appear bottom left of my answer, near to report this answer!  Hurrah!

Ah, but it makes us smile!  And a smile may cost nothing, but it's worth a fortune.  Scuse me while I puke! Lol! :-)

Well I treat the ratings quite seriously, according to how I feel the reply has helped.  Some answerers go to a lot of trouble, often providing links as well.  I like to thank people by message but the stars are a good 'holding' response in case there are further replies, over some days, so everyone can be thanked at once.  Anyway I like the little red stars.
