Hello

I'm looking to do the Inca trail in August 2010. I have done NO research into this yet but I've got some basic questions to get out the way first so any help would be appreciated:

1) I hear this needs to be booked well in advance - is this true?
2) Is August a good time of year to go? Too cold too hot too rainy?
3) Where does one fly to and how does one get from the airport to the trail?
4) What costs can someone expect to pay?
5) Is one week enough time or does it take longer?

Any other advice would also be appreciated

Many thanks

Good Luck!
Fantastic bobs! We're thinking of doing it as well. From what I can gather, it's quite expensive once you get there. Goods sold to tourists are expensive - such as clothing and hand-made items. A week will be plenty for you to see the sights. The full trail takes about 4 days, but the shorter Sacred Walk takes 2. Apparently the walk to Vilcabamba La Vieja is one of the most beautiful and finishes at the hub of the Incan empire. The full trail costs about $50 each. To prepare yourself, make sure you're fit & have the right footwear. Sundays are the quietest days to start out.
