If you leave it to stand without driving, some of the seals will perish. After storing one car when I went to sea for a couple of years, I never did that again. Always sold them for whatever I could get for them. Fix one problem and another showed up.
Even if they are in great shape, low mileage, they have aged, and that' drives down the price. That's why the insurance company will 'write off" a car rather than fix it for several hundred pounds.
Just before Christmas, I had a Scenic which a Dealer-friend told me was worth 2,500. Great condition, 30,000 miles, dealer serviced regularly.
Advertised 2,500 ONO. nothing. dropped to 1,800 nothing. dropped to 1,200, haggled down to 1,100.
It's tough, but sometimes it's best just to get rid of it and forget about it. Doesn't matter how much it's worth, if no one wants to pay that price.
Not an easy decision. Let me know how you get on.
Good Luck
