I requested in March 2007 that my checking account be closed. I received no more statements from 5/3 and wrongly assumed it was. Now in April 2009 and almost $1000 in fees later with no statements to speak of, other than a collection letter from an attorney, 5/3 says that any third party that I had an automatic monthly bill pay set up with has the right to overide the account within 45 days and re-open it. Is this true?? I need some help! Melissa [email protected]

This is a UK based website, and I think you are in the US.

You are more likely to get an accurate answer on a US answer site.

Good luck.
I agree with Panic Button.
As a general point, I'm not sure why you closed the account when there were monthly payments set up- I'm not sure how you thought those bills would get paid.

My apologies! Didn't realize this was based in the UK. The bill was getting paid by mailed in checks, but the cross-over period hadn't happened yet. I will look for a US site. Thank you for taking the time to respond anyway!
