oh dear! i left my hair straighteners on all day on my sister's desk and it's left 2 brown stains on the surface. im not sure of the material of the desk, but it's kind of shiny and white. my parents are away until monday evening and i'd be soo grateful if anyone can suggest any methods to get the stains off before they get home. please help me! xx

From the sounds of it I don't think thay you'd readily be able to get rid of burn marks from that kind of surface.

However, you could try rubbing the stain/burn with a little toothpaste and water on a rag - it has a mild abrasive action so might remove the surface of the mark without damaging the desk surface. It'd be worth trying it on a small area of the desk first though.

Let us know how you get on.
