the big savings club
8 Answers
I wondered if anyone can help me with this, a couple of months ago I bought a duvet set from BidUp TV. Shortly after I was sent a welcome pack from "the big savings club". I thought nothing of this untill this week when they took 99 out of my bank account using the card details I gave to bid up tv. I(apparently this is the cost of a years membership) have asked for a refund which has been refused because apparently I was meant to call and cancel my 30 day free trial within 30 days!!!!!!!! I was not even aware of this as when I got my "welcome pack" I dismissed it.
Can anyone help me get my money back?

Contact whoever it is you have already spoken to and ask them for a copy of your authorisation and contract that you signed so that you can pass the documents on to your solicitor.

I give my card details to many companies when purchasing goods, which I have agreed to buy.
This does not give those companies carte-blanche to bill me for things I have not agreed to. Your bank is just fobbing you off you need to get tough with them, pointing out the above.
Unfortunately, ultimately you could end up having to reclaim the money through the small claims court. But before you get to that point, talk to your local Citizens Advice Bureau who may help.
If it were me, I would make an appointment with my bank manager and give him/her some serious sh!t.

I too was caught out like this. Had a card from the postman saying I had to go to sorting office to collect a parcel, only to find it was the welcome pack so just shoved it in the glovebox without reading it. When the 99 was taken from my account I dug it out and read the small print. I rang them and was told I could only have 49 as I had gone over the 30 days. I asked to speak to a supervisor as I wanted to speak to someone with a bit more authority, and was given the name and address of the head honcho (sorry don't have the details but he was called Michael I think). I wrote to him explaining that I hadn't read the welcome pack as I had been expecting to pick up my parcel instead and was disappointed just to get a letter, and a few days later the remaining 50 was back in my account. It might be worth ringing them again to see if you can get his details and writing a letter explaining what has happened. Shy bairns get nowt!
