My washing machine has broken so I have had to resort to hand washing which I don't mind, but I usually I use the shop's own brand non bio, it doesn't seem to be so effective when hand washing especially white socks and cuffs, does anyone have any suggestions? Except for getting the machine fixed it's not going to happen just yet. Thanks in advance

I used to put water and wash powder in a big pan.put white sock (or knicks) bring to the boil turn off heat and leave for 30 mins.worked for me.
is it for hand washing though? you could add some soda crystals to the powder/water and then hand wash it or get some handwashing powder. you may have to give it some elbow grease by using a scrubbing brush for the heavier stains.
might want to add a drop of bleach/vanish to whites
