MPs will probably come out of the present debacle with increased salaries and allowances to compensate for having to relinquish their perk of extravagant expenses claims. To pay for this should the number of MPs be drastically reduced? After all they are mostly subject to the party whip so do not reflect their constituents views and rarely is the chamber full. Usually it is painfully empty.
