Artist Named Letterman

I have an acrylic painting measuring 5' wide and 4' high signed by Letterman. The scene is a saiboat with a large, colorful spinnaker sailing at night on San Francisco Bay. There is a full moon illuminating the scene. Who is Letterman and has the picture any value. It is an excellent piece of work.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.We, too, have 2 paintings by "Letterman". One is of a large tri-cycle with a huge wheel of spokes overlapping one another. The other painting is of a chairlift with a skier in it. Both are quite large in size. We saw the one described as San Francisco Bay and regret not buying it. Now, we can't find anything on "Letterman" or the Bay painting.
I am in Sydney, Australia. I used to sell these "Letterman" paintings in early to mid 1980's. A company named "Melting Pot" (non existent now) used to import these from the USA. I was told "Letterman" was the name these were labelled with, and were formed as part of an assembly line of disabled artists. They sold for about $200.00 AUD at the time. They looked great and have good texture also on some of the abstract designs. Another very popular painting of theirs' at the time was of "flamingoes"( grey, pink & peach tones). I was in the furniture game at the time and these paintings did wonders for the displays. I personally would like to get a hold of the "chairlift" painting. I hope this info helps you guys.
I have been searching all over the place looking for this very painting. I sail in the San Francisco Bay and would love to have the sailboat painting. I have no idea of its value, but if you ever want to sell it, I would welcome the opportunity. You may contact me at my personal e-mail address if interested. [email protected]
