Last week I bought a new lappy.

So ...

Internet Explorer is lightning fast. All the web pages ping open and closed really quickly.

Except ...

A . n .. s ... w .... e ..... r ...... B ....... a ........ n .........k

... which is sooooooo slooooooowww ...

and sometimes hangs completely.

Is this because of the length of time that it takes AB to load your PC with spy cookies etc for target advertising?

Just wondered.

Well I got targeted today by the bloody Halifax who know my personal details as I have an account with them. She tried to flog me insurance for the "older" person in case of accidents in the home e.g. falling downstairs. I told her to p!ss off (I'm not daft I live in a bungalow)
I really would suggest that anybody that uses this site does so using firefox with the ad-block plus add-in installed.

It gets rid of all the adverts on the AB pages and speeds this sites load times up no end.

Clever Chucky to the rescue !!

I wonder if I can block ads with Inernet Explorer and/or Norton 360 ?
Internet explorer 8 launchhed - Access problems in IE.

Coincidence hmmm
Even here at work, our systems are fast, but not AB.

It takes forever and don't get me started about AB on my home computer.
I've tried to find an ad blocker for IE and although there are a few around I've yet to find one that is as effective as ad-block plus on firefox.

the closest I have found for IE is IE adblock from http://www.catenalogic.com
Like legliar, all very weird.
Hi Jogger !
I access Answerbank with IE8 and it is fast.
It is the site itself that is the problem as it crashes due to overload especially on weekends when everyone is doing their Crosswords. There are Ads everywhere no matter which site you visit but you have to be aware of Malware.

Catenalogic ... IE Adblock ...

It looks good ... especially if it's true that they are donating it to the online community because it's just not practicable for them to develop the performance speed up to a commercially viable level.

Nothing dodgy about it as far as you know, Chuck ?

As far as I know it's fine. I've had it installed on my work computer for a few months now with no adverse effects.

it doesn't seem to provide the same sort of level of speed boost as firefox with AD-block, but for those who really want to use IE it's about the best I've been able to find.
