a complete mug---I'll tell you. Yesterday I bought my T.V licence, on the way home I met someone I know quite well.He asked what I'd been doing so I told him.He went into fits of laughter and said that he hadn't bought one for 23 years, and that nothing had happened to him.So he asked why do it.?

When I got home I felt so mad I could have throttled him.
Don't people make you sick?

And some poor person who genuinely forgets to renew theirs will be the ones to get caught and fined
annie they send you a reminder in red and call at your property.
if you carry on watching tv with no licence then they will take action

I was in court this week (for work) and there were loads of tv licence cases on. basically, if you were caught without one for less than 6 months it was a 150 fine, over 6 months and it was 350. one woman had previously been fined 100, so was fined again.. 450.

well someone's been catching them out!
'if you don't have or watch tv you don't need a licence '

Incorrect - if u have a TV in your house working or not, you must have a licence.

that link was full of urban myths that have been passed down from person to person like chinese whispers changing from one story to another with a twist here and there for good luck
Unless you allow someone to physically check you have/dont have a licence, no one will be able to know either way
pink i phoned up the tv licence office

if you do not have a tv plugged in and are not watching it you are ok .

you are not breaking any law

ring them up and check for yourself

they also have no legal right to enter your property without a court warrant

PLEASE ring them up to check
Agree Pink -its annoying all those peeps who brag that say they are getting housing benefit and working families tax yet their man works and brings home a good wage.

Same thing -cant report as it was told in confidence -like brenda-only consolation is at the end of the month they are at Cash Converters.Sometimes just sometimes I wish i could pull a flanker (steady lol) but I cant -its not in me to do it.
this is from the link above pink

What if I only use a TV to watch videos/DVDs/as a monitor for my games console? Do I still need a licence?
You do not need a TV Licence if you only use your TV to watch videos and DVDs or as a monitor for your games console.

However, please notify us in writing that this is the case. One of our Enforcement Officers may visit you to confirm that you do not need a licence.

Please write to us including your name, address and the reason you believe that you don't need a licence at:

TV Licensing
Bristol

Do I need a TV Licence?

You must be covered by a valid TV Licence if you watch or record television programmes as they're being shown on TV. It makes no difference what equipment you use - whether its a laptop, PC, mobile phone, digital box, DVD recorder or a TV set - you still need a licence.

You do not need a TV Licence to view video clips on the internet, as long as what you are viewing is not being shown on TV at the same time as you are viewing it.

If you use a digital box with a hi-fi system, or another device that can only be used to produce sounds and can't display TV programmes, and you don't install or use any other TV receiving equipment, you don't need a TV Licence.
