have you cleaned out all the rubbish?
2 things that get me (too often)
autocomplete - if on autopilot I always double type the password (you generally get the warning though)

but the tools | internet options | browsing history | settings | everytime i visit the webpage causes the most problems at work

you end up trying to use old form data - out of date cookie info - and then it just starts working (when the cache empties)

hmmm,

If you used your MSN email address for the login into ebay as well as the same password I would start to get a little concerned myself!

if it had only been hotmail then I would say it's a glitch...

For hotmail and ebay to reject the same password (and I assume you do use your HM address for the login on Ebay) just seems too much of a coincidence to me and I would suspect that somebody has got into yout hotmail account somehow and has just tried the same email address/password combo on Ebay.

If you have a paypal account registered on your Ebay account I would consider contacting paypal as a precaution.

I'd also think about changing the password for any other important sites that you use the same login details for.

did your ebay notifications get sent to your hotmail account though? and if so do they include your ebay ID.

So if somebody has got into your hotmail account then they have your Ebay ID and from there it doesn't take a genius to just try the same password.

I may be being overly paranoid, but better safe than sorry

The next thing to do is sign in to your eBay account.

If you can't sign in
Contact eBay straight away. Make sure you've changed your email password so that your email account is secured.

Start working through these steps to secure your account.

Has anyone suggested typing out your password into (say) a word processing program? It's a long shot, but maybe your keyboard settings have been altered. The @ key is in a different position on US keyboards, for instance.

LeMarchand...same keyboard for a year and I tried my wife's laptop keyboard and the result was the same.
