of a rant. Can anyone tell me why sometimes things seem so difficult to do.?
Problem--my elderly neighbour , 88 years of age , living alone , with care support, and has dementia, has lost his walking stick, somewhere in the locality .
He has no idea where it could be. He manages at the moment to take his little dog out for a walk , and the rest of us in the village keep an eye on him during his short .walk.
2 days ago he came back without his stick, we have searched high and low in the hedges ,on the local field to no avail.
He has had this stick for 18 years on loan from the Social services.
I thought it would be a simple job to get a replacement --but no.
To get another he needs to see his GP for a referal to the occupational therapist , who will then come and see him in 4--6 weeks.
But he can buy one immediately from the disability centre in the next town, This facility is run by the Social S ervices.
Absolutely incredible.!
1 man , 1 stick --hardly mega bucks for the NHS. .
So will take him this afternoon to get one.Thank you very much for no help at all.Grrrrr!!!
It is so so frustrating...when my mum needed handrails it took ages to get them with lots of home visits and then we had to arrange fitting...not a problem but if they had said that in first place I would have gone on and just done it. He is lucky to have you. PS I put address sickers on all my mum's stuff in the end. Thought about tying a luggage label to her as well.!! Her local shop was fab they would help her to pack her shopping and check that there was no unpaid for stuff in her bag....bless her.
