Although the giraffe has a long neck, it only has the same number of neck vertebrae (7) as we do! They probably evolved such long necks so that they could reach higher into trees for leaves without having any other animal as compertition for the food source.
Giraffes make a variety of noises, they can moo, hiss, roar and whistle.
This site here is full of fascinating giraffe info : )
All animals are as they are because they have evolved to fill a niche. The giraffe's niche is a very small one: it has a long neck to feed on the uppermost leaves that no one else can reach, and yet it goes about in an environment where it does not need to evade predators very fast (impossible with a long neck).
