we are wanting to dig out part of our front garden to create parking for 2 cars. we are not on a main road, just a side road. should we get planning permission or just dig out?? Thanks
If you are concreting over any area of an existing garden you need planning permission..........this requirement came into force in November last year. It may not be easily granted as applications are being turned down in areas of poor surface drainage.
Close, but no cigar.
If the area is more than 5 square metres, you are using a non-permeable surface (like concrete), and it is not constructed so the water doesn't drain naturally into the open garden, and you live in England, THEN you need to apply for Planning Consent.
