Bit embarrassing!

Hi this is a bit embarrassing. I suffer from under arm sweat - although I dont get BO it effect everything I wear! I have to wear black or white and thats about it. Ive been to the docs and had some stuff (drichonol) that didnt really work. A mate of mine was telling me that you can have your sweat glands removed. Has anyone heard or this?

Yes, this operation is possible, I have participated in it a few times. Its fairly straitforward, but I think that your problem has to pretty severe before your doctor will recommend surgery, ask your GP to refer you to a plastic surgeon for a consultation.

My other half has for years sweated profusely from his armpits. Not like a smelly sweat but like if someone had switched the taps on. Even in cold weather.

I found a roll on deodorant in Tesco which is an aluminium deodorant. You apply it every other night before going to bed and wash it off in the morning. This has stopped his problem completely. I think it's called perspirex. We tried everything and nothing worked and he even had an allergic reaction to another aluminium deodorant, but this one is excellent.

Removing the sweat glands are a bit excessive but I can understand that it's frustrating for you.  But before going under the knife you could also try Botox as that stops it for about 6-9 months.

I dont know ,much about it i'm afraid but i understand that botox injections into your armpits can help - terry osborne (nephew of sharon and ozzy) has it done.

Before considering the more drastic options there are still many roll ons you could try. I've been using Anhydrol Forte for over 10 years now and it works a treat.

Hey floss my friend is a dancer and she suffers really bad all the time with underarm and on her palms. She is having botox injected under her arms soon but as it is a fairly new thing that has come about recently. I don't know that much about it i would enquire with your GP if your really naffed off with it. I did ask her abit about it but she was a little unsure herself but i guess it must paralyse the sweat glands or something.

Anytime floss85, it's always nice to know when you can help others. I'm sure most chemist also sell this so you could print out the picture and take it with you.

One word of advice, stick to the instructions religiously as it can easily cause irritation. Now that my other half have used it for some time and has it under control he only uses it about once or twice a week. it's so nice to see him enjoy himself as he was so self conciouss and would change tops several times a day.

I used to suffer from exactly the same problem, no matter what the weather, I had 'wet' armpits and it affected the clothes I could wear.  I found that both Perspirex and Driclor both worked, as long as you applied them religiously and followed the instructions to the letter (which I didn't always do!)

Now I am slightly older (10 years later) I find that although I still suffer sometimes, the problem is nowhere near as bad as it used to be, I don't know why, maybe it's a hormone thing!

If that doesn't work you might like to consider this:  I  have used Crystal Spring deodorant for some years.  I am very rarely even damp under the arms and it is so effective.  It does not leave white stains on clothes either.  It is available from health shops, i.e. the original Australian thing, it's manufacture based on the natural stuff that Aborigines used.  I think some of the big pharmaceutical names are marketing something similar but I have no knowledge of them.

I bought the Perspirex deodrant from Tecos and used it for 2 nights (exactly how it said in the instructions) but its gave me a servere rash - that looked like a very bad burn. I think it must be an ingrediant in it that is also in other strong deodrants, as a similar thing happened when I used Drichonol!

Think Im just going to have to have botox!

I'm so sorry to hear that. My other half had a similar reaction to a deodorant like that before using perspirex. It's the high concentrate of aluminium that's in them that you react to.His looked so sore and was all red and lumpy. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you.
