The length of the order is a matter for the court and it will have been stated when it was imposed. You need to find out which court made the order and contact the court office to find out the details.

Hi brunette.
You would not be reaching out for advice if you felt supported by the police.
In terms of harassment you will only get the teeth that you need in terms of actual punishment if this person proceeds to harass you if you go to family court and get a non molestation order. This can be done either through the harassment act or via family law. In my experience, people who continually harass never really stop until they are made to. If you are unemployed this wont cost you a penny as long as you have evidence of the harassment and if it is that serious that it involves violence you could get your legal representative to obtain an emergency non molestation which will have specific orders from the court instructing the harasser that they cannot approach you or be in your postcode area or even for example enter the M25 corridor or harass you via a third party. They will be served with the order and if breached they could serve up to 5 years behind bars. The bottom line is this: Proceed to get the non molestation because if this person carries on harassing you the police will do very little to protect you.
