Women change their minds to what they feel their perfect man should be, difficult I know but what can you do?  Woman want different things, and they want their partner to personify all these different things, but I would advise you to just be yourself and find a woman who thinks you personify all the things she wants.  However don't lose sleep over this, you mau never truly understand women, after all if you did then we would lose our allure and mystery!

Sorry to add to this never-ending thread, but there is one big thing that can over-ride all the tick boxes and that is chemistry. It's intangible and you can't predict it. A woman may meet a man and be drawn to him despite him not `ticking her boxes'.

Also, you asked how women differentated between a friend and a potential boyfriend. The answer is sexual. The question is do I want to have sex with im or not? Thus the differentiation.

Appreciation, approval, companionship, intimacy and plenty of fun times.
Racinglover, to answer your question, specifically, a woman's needs change over time.  At 47 years old, I am looking for stability in my life, someone that I can love, someone I can trust, someone who respects me and the things that I'm trying to accomplish in my life.  Being a financially independent woman (i.e., never having to or wanting to rely on a man financially), I need a man who can hold his own financially.  I don't believe in financially supporting him, but nor do I believe he should support me.  A man who has a great sense or humor, someone that I have great conversations with (after all....good conversation can carry you a long with in a relationship), someone who is my friend, someone who is romantic, someone who will grab me as I walk in the front door and dance with me, and someone who is a great (or good) lover.  He doesn't have to be extremely handsome, but he has to smell good, take care of himself and dress decently.  Outside of this, I ask for nothing more.  This is my perspective on what "I" want as a woman.
