Black Soot On The TUBE!!

today while I was travelling on the tube, black soot sprayed out of the air vents and ruined my suit, does anyone know what caused this and how can I go about getting London Underground to pay for the suit they ruined?

It's probably either brake dust or dust off the track picked up by the ventilation system.
