A wicket off a missed no-ball, two from a ball that missed the bat and a catch that was dubious but not referred to the Third Umpire.

If it had been football, England v Germany for example and the Germans won by scoring two goals from an offside position, one from a ball that had not crossed the line and another that had been handled into the goal would that be fair and square?

As for ma sounding pathetic, feel free to point out any errors I have made.

I was using the fictional football as an example, I am sure a Mr P Shilton disputes the view that it was fair and square when a certain Argentinian scored against him in the 1986 World Cup.

I am well aware that mistakes are made but for me to be called pathetic by someone who described England's win as being "fair and square" is not on.

TCL I agree that it is the umpiring & the use of technology that needs to be questioned in cricket. HOWEVER, when Ricky Ponting was asked about "decisions that went against the Aussies" immediately after the game (Live on TV) his response was "Thats irrelevant, we were beaten by 115 runs by the better side".

How magnanimous & gracious in defeat he is - I cannot imagine Fergie or Wenger or Terry or Rooney being like that (probably due to lack of intelligence). Being a good loser as well as a good winner is what today's footballers lack.

I have tickets for the next Test Match & at �75 yes they are pricey but would much rather pay that for a full day's International sport than pay �40 to watch a bunch of overpaid, foul mouthed, cheating prima donnas for 90 minutes.

THAT is why cricket has been, is & always will be a better SPORT than football.
