Recurring thrush

I have been getting thrush round about every 8 weeks lately. Sometimes I think it is linked to the end of my period when I use a pad as this seems to be when I start to feel the symptoms. This is when I havent had sex for a few days so dont think its caused by sex. I also have itchy skin and excema at the moment. I am going through some stressful times so quite anxious. I wondered if I might have a candida imbalance. The thrush clears up with a canesten tablet but I dont really want to keep getting it and also would like to know whether the itchy skin could be linked.

Hi, I have had the same problem in the past, isn't it annoying!
Anyway I just wanted to say that men can get thrush too and so if your partner is not taking treatment for it to then he will just keep giving it back to you.
Also a really great thing to do is to get some bio yoghurt when you first feel the symptoms and put it on the area, it serves to sooth the itching and the "friendly bacteria" can help to clear it up!
p.s I have psoriasis so maybe there is a link with itchy skin!?
was going to say the same thing as orange gnome about partner treatment, also mine was definitely stress related. The other thing which I found helpful was to cut sugar out of my diet and hike my intake of water massively. I am sure that you have already stopped using perfumed soap talc etc if not then that can help, use plain warm water with a little bicarb in it for "down there" hygiene and something simple and soothing for general washing.
beware of intimate deoderant sprays and the like, which can kill the natural "flora" ie good bacteria which prevent candida spores from developing.
