Emily Bronte's Wurthering Heights

I have a book that has no publishing dates or any type of indication of dates. Except that the publisher is "Books, Inc" New York & Boston. How do I find out the published date?

Well, Wuthering heights was first published in the UK in 1847,and in the USA in 1848.
So your book must be 1848 or later.
WH was first pusblished under the pseudonym of "Ellis Bell" as in those days a female author was frowned on.
If your book has the authoir as Ellis Bellis is probably quite early,but if the author is given as Emily Bronte then it is likely to be much later.
I cannot see anywhere on the net just when the book's real author was crdited(that is the changeover from Ellis Bell to Emily Bronte).
However,books Inc sounds like a wholesale publisher,or a book club,but I could be wrong.
I would say that unless it is a VERY early US publishing,and/or in VERY good condition,or rarity,then due to the number of editions of WH that have been published,it won't be worth very much.

thank you for your reply to my question. I took a better look at the book. it is old looking and not in the best condition. This book has 3 parts i want to share. 1. the "editor's intro [1930], @ the end it has the int. H.W. Garrod. 2. biographicalnotice of Ellis & Action Bell, @ the end of these pages there is a date "sept.19, 1850 and a name Currer Bell on the opposit side. 3. "editor's preface" [1850], @ the end of these pages the name Currer Bell again.

I love this book wether its rare or not and dont intend on selling. But I wouldlike to know. I have tried to google and find someone or someplace to assit me find a date. the search has lead me to dead ends. Any other advice you may have would be very much abliged.

Well, H>W>Garrod was an American Scholar and (later)Professor of English Literature.

So I would imagine that what you have at the back of the book is a criticism by Garrod?
I can only assume that the 1850 date may refer to an original forward/criticism by Charlotte (Emily died in Dec 1848) for an 1850 edition(as Currer Bell).
Charlotte herself died in 1855,so probably never wrote another forward etc
The three Bronte Sisters all used pseudonyms instead of their actual names.

So what you may have is a WH,with notes (in 1930) by HW Garrod,which also includes(1850) notes by Currer Bell(Charlotte Bronte).

All the 1850 notes refer to Ellis,Acton & currer Bell( The Bronte Sisters) because they were using their writing names, because it couldn't be admitted they were written by females!
