my runner beans

My runner beans seem to be dying from the bottom up, they had black fly which I was spraying regularly but the plants just seemed to die from the bottom, all the leaves have gone yellow and crsipy and fallen off, even the plants that did not seem to have the black fly are dying in the same way, is there any way to salvage them

I'd be inclined to dig one up and have a look at the roots to see if the slugs or beetles have been busy eating them.
