Den - if I may speak for jake, although he is more than capable of defending himself -
being 'upset' is not the issue, or indeed the Question. The point jake makes - in tandem with mine - is that righteous vigilaneism is a seriously dangerous road for a civilised society to take. That is why we have a legal system with checks and balances, which, flawed as it is, does not depend on the perceived horor of a crime by the general public to determine the appropriate punishment.
I dread the day when I return home from a hard day beheading child molestors, full of bonhomie for a job well done, and I inadvertently trip a roadside bomb by travelling at two miles over the speed limit. I crawl home, glad to be alive, only to have my head stamped to a pulp by my neighbour because my dog has fouled his lawn.
Justice is in the handsof the law, not the angriest person around and i for one am very happy for that to continue.
