go to start - control panel - settings - regional language - options. Scroll down to English UK - tick & accept changes.

thanks tamborine - I have just done that and when I go in it is coming up English UK - but when I go back to my text (I am typing chapters of a book) the little icon at the bottom of my text is saying English US and of course changing some words to English US.

always switch off pc for new settings to take effect.

Reading between the lines do you mean in a word document. To set the language in Word go to Tools and then language
