Get them to negotiate on your behalf and identify any part of the bill which is wrong and negotiate a payment plan for any part which is correct. Do not accept a pre-payment meter unless you absolutely must. These meters charge electricity at a far higher rate than any other means of charging you. Whilst it may be legal for the company to disconnect your supply, given the circumstances, and especially if you get CAB involved, they are unlikely to do so.
