Phone ringing

When I have an incoming call and into the call a few minutes the phone rings during the call. I have noticed it don't ring on an out going call. What would cause this?

it's a wiring fault (probably split insulation which has become damp or wet causing the wire to grow salts and in effect to create a rectifier
a short circuit between the blue either blue & white or white & blue connector 2 and orange wire on 3
(I'm pretty sure it's between 2 & 3)
will cause the phone to ring constantly
The incoming ring is 80v ac while speech is 50v dc
so an incoming call will break down the faulty insulation and the phone starts to ring - eventually it dries ... and the ringing stops
It's difficult to say without testing the wires
if you have an NTE5 unscrew the cover plate and connect directly to the line ... if the fault dissappears - it's an internal wiring fault.
if you have lots of sockets ... it's just a case of splitting each socket out in turn
