After 6 years of owning my wee dog I noticed him scratching a lot and I found a black thing on his back and only my friend told me about a month ago I think it was a tick.

I nearly baulked but lifted it with kitchen roll. He is away to groomers at the moment so he will be shaved completely.

I think it has been some time since I used the Frontline - I wont be so lazy next time.

Shaved completely??? Just for one tick? I hope when you lifted it off you did not leave the legs in -you should only get them off with proper tick removers or make sure they have been twisted out when you remove them. Ticks are not a sign of poor hygiene or anything like that, they can pick them up just walking along a grass verge. They fill with blood then drop off and do not cause the dogs any discomfort, although a heavy infestation can cause anaemia but this is very unusual. Frontline spray will kill them and stop them getting a grip in future.

my answer did not go through there. No I booked dog in for grooming about 2 weeks ago. He is only scratching for 2 days. I did think it was hygiene so went ahead and washed all his bedding and mine as he sleeps in my room. He was in quite a bit of discomfort as he kept scratching all the time - I was dreading your answer as I took it personal and thought it was my fault. This was the first time I saw one so I just squeezed his skin around it and pulled it out with as I said before kitchen roll. thanks for your answer.
