can anyone tell me the origin of the French phrase "Sacre' bleu"?

It's supposed to have originally been a euphamism for "sacr� dieu" (Holy God) - see http://www.etymonline.com/s1etym.htm

Louis XIV, tired of hearing Sacre Dieu, a blasphemy, made a decree for his dog's name, Bleu. to be employed as a replacement - thus, Sacre Dieu.

This is the legend I have known since childhood.

why can't I get that link to work if everyone else can?
