Good Morning Does anybody know how long it will take to do a 750g gammon joint in my slow cooker? Somebody told me you can't do gammon on Low, and you have to use the High setting. Any ideas if this is true and why? Many thanks Soo
I often cook gammon in slow cooker, rinse the joint , place in in cooker, cover with water,( i use boiling water just to speed it up, if you do the same its best to heat oven up for 10 - 15 mins to reduce any chance of cracking the pot ),then ignore for 6-8 hours or until done to personal taste :-)
I rinse a 750g gammon in water then place it in a saucepan and cover with cider and aaa a handfull of cloves (12 - 15). Bring to the boil and transfer to an already hot slo-cooker on a high setting and let it come up to temperature before putting it on the low setting. If the cider doesn't quite cover the gammon I turn the joint a couple of times. Cook for about 4 - 5 hours (depends on your machine and personal taste) then take the gammon out to cool. Ideal for sandwiches and the kids lunchboxes and it is tastier, cheaper and lasts longer than the pre-packed variety.
Delicious
