I am using Freecorder which basically lets you record whatever is coming through your speakers at the time, but I have noticed that when you are listening to what is playing at the time it is fine but when you play back the recording it suffers from a very crackly background noise as though there was electric motor interference on it why would this be and how can I get rid of it ?

Hi, all I can suggest is:-
1. Open Freecorder Tool Bar,
2. Click SETTINGS button.
3. You will see a panel with Device, Line & Format. Against LINE, try the various alternatives offered (CD Audio, Line Input, Stereo Mix, etc) using the source of music you wish to record.
4. After each trial, Click the "Test Input Device" button (on the same panel) to record and play back the test piece until the quality is what you require.

Hope this helps.

Thank Wak, just tried that and what I found was if I changed from save in MP3 to save in WAV format the crackle disappears so great you seem to have cracked it !
Glad it's sorted for you. If you want to change the file back to MP3 download and install FORMAT FACTORY
