Christmas
When my two were young i used to lay newspaper from the chimney breast to the Christmas tree then get a wellington boot dipped in soot and make foot prints on the paper...They are now 44 & 50 and they still remember it....Happy Christmas....xx

However even modern parents still seem to find ways to keep the magic special. A couple of Christmas Eve's ago, I was shopping in Asda when I met a mum with her two delightful little lads who were wanting to tell me (and anyone else who would listen) about how they'd carefully counted the carrots that they were leaving out for Santa's reindeer, in order to make sure that none of them were left out. Those little boys smiled with their eyes even more than they did with they mouths. It was a moment I'll always treasure.
Merry Christmas! ;-)

Father Christmas writes to our children every year and leaves the letter in the stocking. He uses special writing paper and green ink. The letter always mentions special things that have happened recently. ( The children are now 29,28 and 24 but he still writes and they still come into our bed to open stockings and show us what is in them.) Son-in- Law thinks we are very strange !!
One of the earliest memories I've got is being allowed to go to Midnight Mass which was a big family thing with all my uncles & aunts cousins etc (I was a about 5) and leaving the sherry and pies out for Santa and then comming home to find all the presents round the tree and the sherry and pies gone. I learnt muchlater that my uncle & cousin, would leave the church early and go round on their motorbikes putting the pressies out while everybody was talking & walking home.Believe me when you are only 5 it was sheer magic
When my daughter was little she used to worry that Santa wouldn't come because we didn't have a chimney. Before waking her up my husband used to have to sneak downstairs where all the presents were and slightly open the patio doors. She'd go downstairs while we stayed in our bedroom and I'll never forget the.......oh daddy, mummy, he's been!!
