Will the Banks honour a post dated cheque?

Hi, banks generally should not honour a post-dated cheque.  I work in this field, and certainly I would not allow any of my staff to accept such a cheque over the counter.  best to talk to your own branch on that one!

The idea of having the date on a cheque is not to indicate when funds are available but rather, like many legal documents, to show when you placed your signature upon the cheque.
If you sign a cheque and put a date other than that of the current day the cheque should technically be deemed 'invalid'.
